The precipice lake cave of Melissani in Karavomylos, near Sami, will take you on a mental journey to the place wherein ancient times, the god Pan and the nymphs were worshiped. It is a unique geological phenomenon, an impressive cave of 160 m. long and 40 m. wide, where a floating tour is offered. You will admire magical -20,000 years old- stalactites, crystal clear waters with turquoise shades, and you will be 20 meters below the ground, with the sunbeams falling vertically to the water from the roof of the cave.
At a distance of 3 km from Sami, in the area of Haliotata, we meet another rare geological phenomenon, one of the oldest caves in Greece, over 100 million years. This is the magnificent Cave of Drogarati, which was discovered about 300 years ago. It has a height of 120 m, a depth of about 95 m, an average temperature of 18 degrees Celsius, and a humidity of 90% and can be visited daily. You will walk between stalactites, stalagmites, and small ponds with cool water. You will be impressed by the large cave room of about 900 sq.m. (65 x 45, 20 m. height), called the Hall of the Apotheosis. Due to the excellent acoustics, music concerts are often hosted there.
